      Hi

Our guests (hate the term refugee) have completed their visa applications and submitted them with personal information supplied by us (passport numbers etc). We understand the local authority will contact us to view the accommodation to agree suitability.

I seem to remember reading that the sponsors get a copy of the visa application of something else to confirm the personal details of the guests. Is that correct?

      Advice appreciated.

Hi, I have only just seen this post and you may have an answer by now.  We completed the visa application for our guests.  To be honest from then on you get little, or in some cases, no information from the visa office.  We got one email confirming that one application had been received, but nothing for the other two members of the family.  From what I read on other forums this is not unusual.  It is definitely worth checking that supporting documents were properly uploaded as sometimes this doesn’t seem to happen.  The only way this can be done is to go back in to the visa application site and by going through a number of pages it will take you to the document upload site.  Ringing the helpline won’t help you.  They are very pleasant but appear to have no access, or knowledge of, individual applications.  It all seems to be a waiting game and hoping for the best.  We applied on 23 March and have heard nothing yet.

        Thanks Clay this is helpful!

I started looking at the form – (it is this one isn’t it?? https://apply.visas-immigration.service.gov.uk/applicationInProgressWarning/ukraine-scheme-ooc ) – but it asks if you have a Ukrainian passport and for your email address etc so I thought it best if they filled it out themselves. But if you think it’s best for us to fill out I am happy to do that.

Yes it is.  One of the first questions is are you applying for yourself, or on behalf of someone else.  There are definitely confusing questions on the form, and unfortunately you cat see all the questions up front.  If you look on this Facebook page: “UK Hosts for Ukrainian Families Support Group” someone has kindly listed the questions – I wish we had seen these before we started.

It was posted by Sue Clifford (Admin for the group) 6 days ago, so you will need to search for it.

Thank you so much – I will look for Sue Cliffords message on there. Have just joined. But just to doubly confirm, that link I sent is that definitely the right form? Thank you so much you’ve been amazing

I provided my info to my guests as they wished to fill the forms in themselves, and then they sent me copies which they had downloaded.

Thanks for the list of questions, I had been through the form as a potential refugee to see what what was needed, I used imaginary details to progress through it. If you do not submit, the system automatically deletes it after a few days.

Our guests applied 2 weeks ago and we have had nothing yet.

Norfolk County Council have been holding zoom sessions online to help with hosts queries, the first meeting can be accessed here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFSWJiQof5M if you wish to watch it.

My two guest filled in their forms yesterday.  There is mention of a ‘commercial partner’ to have a biometrics taken and yet in the same sentence is says that those with international passports do not need to do this.  There is no mention of who the commercial partners are, or where they are.  It was my husband reading from The Times that he was able to glean that one was TLS and the other VFS and one or other is in Paris.  We have both read that this is no longer a requirement, but the information sent to the refugees (guests) has not been updated.

The Document Check List sent from our government to the named person has numerous inappropriate questions such as questions about their money, their assets and their home address that could easily have been bombed by now.  I am sure this is the regular form sent out for normal visas, but it is grossly insensitive to people who have fled for their lives.

Again in Saturday’s The Times, I read that the whole process is being speeded up.  Has anybody noticed anything happening?  And, how long is too long waiting?  And, what should we do now?

      Thanks, Maddy
